You know what they say. If you want to do a job right you must have the right tools. I was moving and I didn't feel like going through the same hassle of sucking on the hose to drain my waterbed. After researching many many websites I ran across these guys who seemed to be selling a high quality pump but for about 40 bucks less then the other guys. I called and they said that the pumps were always in stock. I got a quote for express shipping but I wasn't prepared to pay the ridiculous shipping fees. Adam (the guy on the phone) explained to me that the charges were directly from UPS. I asked, if I was to order today, when could I receive the pump? Adam told me that he couldn't give me an exact date but most orders ship within 48 hours. He then offered me a "Fast Pass" which was a 10.00 fee to be put in the front of the line so that my order would ship the same day. Since I lived in GA and they were shipping from FL, it would mean that I would get my order in 2 days and it would only cost me 10 bucks since they offer free shipping.
So, I get the package, (in two days) woo hoo!! - Inside of the package are all of the parts that I need to hook up to the pump and the hose. They give you this small garden hose that attaches to the waterbed mattress and to the pump. I had to hook up my hose which went from the discharge part of the pump and I put the other end into my bathtub. I plugged the thing in to turn it on since there was no switch on the pump. It was really loud and seemed to be all connected correctly but no water was coming out. So, I call these guys up again and they were very helpful. They told me to first make sure that all of the air burped out of the mattress as the pump will not pump air (mine had a big bubble). They also told me to make sure that all of the connections had washers inside of them. (They supply them to you but I had forgotten to put them in. - I try it again... and OMG I almost had to tackle the hose in my bathtub because water was coming out of it so fast. The pump sounded much different almost at a low whirring sound which was a good sign that it was spinning water through it and not air. I sat there mystified as I could actually see the water level dropping and the pump ran. Now the cool part, I have this white blanket stuff inside of my bladder which is super heavy when it's wet. Almost always when I drain my bed I end up getting it twisted around or all of it falls to the foot. I used to be able to take it to the waterbed store and they would fix it but since they are not there anymore I wanted to make sure that it didn't get messed up. The guys at the waterbedoutlet.com told me to let the pump flatten the mattress and to listen to the sound of the pump as it will first gurgle when it gets down to the fiber stuff. The gurgling sound is the combination of air and water going through the pump. Once it stops gurgling then do the following steps.
Do not unplug the pump until you are completely finished. Disconnect the plastic part from the valve and IMMEDIATELY pop in the seal of the cap to keep the air from rushing back in the mattress. The mattress should be vacuumed packed. As soon as the cap is in, unplug the pump. I was able to fold my mattress like a blanket. I've only seen it look like this when I bought it new. All of this within 20 minutes!!! Oh yea, make sure you unplug your heater, I almost forgot to do that :) - As you can tell I'm a very satisfied customer. I love it when a product performs like it's advertised. Buying this pump makes owning a waterbed less of a hassle. They give you this thing called a puddle scoop for free to get water off the floor. It's a waste for me and I don't see myself using it. I paid 79.99 - hope this helps you guys.
